59 elderly people from 'Eera Nenjam' cast their votes

Coimbatore : The Eera Nenjam trust in the city is the home to many senior citizens who were abandoned by their families. Around 59 elderly people from the trust cast their votes in R S Puram, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore : The Eera Nenjam trust in the city is the home to many senior citizens who were abandoned by their families. Around 59 elderly people from the trust cast their votes in R S Puram, Coimbatore.



The elders had not exercised their franchise in the recent past expressed happiness as they were empowered to cast their votes this election due to the noble initiative of their trust's founder, Mahendran.



The elderly from Eera Nenjam ranged between 60 to 90 years, comprising of 5 men and 54 women residing at the home in RS Puram did not possess voter IDs.



Due to the initiative from the trust, all the 59 elderly people could cast their votes today at the R S Puram Boys' Higher Secondary School. The elderly people who were unable to walk were brought to the polling booths in wheelchairs.
