Tribal injured by elephant in Anaikatti

Coimbatore : In a lucky escape, a 58-year-old tribal from the Dhoomanur tribal settlement escaped with minor injuries after an elephant attacked him near the settlement around 10.30 pm, on Sunday.


Coimbatore : In a lucky escape, a 58-year-old tribal from the Dhoomanur tribal settlement escaped with minor injuries after an elephant attacked him near the settlement around 10.30 pm, on Sunday.

P Nanjan was returning to his village after helping forest officials douse a wild fire that had broken out in the Anaikatti forests. 

As he was approaching the settlement by foot along with a team of forest officials, an elephant that was standing near a water tank attacked him. 

He managed to escaped with only injuries on the thigh and was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for further treatment. The team of forest officials with Nanjan narrowly escaped.
