He complained that the farmer icon which is the symbol of Naam Tamilar Katchi is missing in the EVMs. It has been announced that three free items will be rewarded to those find the farmer icon.
1. Purified healthy drinking water
2. Assured job opportunities
3. Prolonged permanent development.
In the NOTE section, it says – (we request you to vote for Naam Tamilar Katchi which is a party for alternate politics, and beyond all fascist politicians. )The facebook page also consists of serial numbers of Naam Tamilar Katchi candidates for Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Pollachi.
Why this announcement?
Naam Tamilar Katchi had contested in the previous assembly election on the 'double candle' symbol. Though they had expected to contest on the same symbol in this election, the EC instead allotted for them the 'sugarcane farmer' symbol. To register the symbol in people’s minds, the party has removed the sugarcane in the symbol and are spreading news that their symbol is only the farmer. They have been propagating the caption that the “Farmer is going to win.”
But the party members have complained to the Electoral Officer that while other party symbols are more visible in EVM, the farmer symbol is hidden. The case registered to make the symbol more visible was dismissed by the Court. Hence, the announcement on Facebook that 'farmer' symbol was missing and whoever finds it, would be rewarded.
The party members also stated, "In spite of announcing free items as reward, we have announced basic amenities like drinking water, job opportunities and sustained development. For Coimbatore, we have proposed free items based on Mosquito-free Coimbatore, Thirst-free Coimbatore, Job-filled Coimbatore. “
