Four migrant workers in Tiruppur die after inhaling poisonous gas in septic tank

Tirupur: In a tragic incident, four migrant workers died int he process of cleaning a septic tank in a dyeing unit in Tirupur.


Tirupur: In a tragic incident, four migrant workers died int he process of cleaning a septic tank in a dyeing unit in Tirupur. 



According to reports, Jayakumar of Coimbatore owns a dyeing unit called ‘Unity Washing’ at Karuppa Kavundampalayam, in Tirupur. His employee Farooq Ahmed, hailing from Assam, reportedly had a heart attack while cleaning the septic tank where the waste effluents get stored. 



On seeing this, Anwar Hussain, Abu, Thilvar Hussain who had accompanied him for cleaning the tank jumped into it, to save him. Farooq had already died, while Abu and Anwar too died inside the tank after inhaling toxic gas. Thilvar Hussain who had also inhaled the toxic gas died on his way to the Tiruppur Government Hospital.



The bodies of all four men were sent for postmortem. Veerapandi police have commenced investigation on the incident and have found that the men had not put on any safety equipment that is mandatory for cleaning such septic tans.
