Coimbatore : As many as 6 polling booths staffed only by women will be established for the Lok Sabha elections in Coimbatore, officials said.
6 polling booths and 8 model polling booths are to be constituted in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency in which only women electoral officials will be on duty.
As the city is gearing up for elections to be held on April 18, the electoral officers are busy prepping up the polling booths at Coimbatore North, Coimbatore South, Kavundampalayam, Singanallur, Sulur and Palladam in Tirupur comes under Coimbatore lok sabha constituency.
In all these six constituencies, all women polling booths and model polling booths will be set up. Three model constituencies are to be set up in Coimbatore South constituency, an election officer said.
Panchayat Union Primary School at Kavundampalayam of Palladam legislative assembly constituency, Kannampalayam Panchayat Union primary school of Sulur legislative assembly constituency, PSG Arts and Science College at Kavundampalayam legislative assembly constituency in Chitra, Saint Paul Nursery and Primary School, Rathinapuri of Coimbatore North legislative assembly constituency, Nirmala College at Kamarajar Road of Coimbatore South constituency, Ramasamy Chettiar girls higher secondary school in Singanallur legislative assembly constituency are the places where 'all women' polling booths are to be constituted.
Aarakkulam Panchayat union primary school at Palladam legislative assembly constituency, Kadhir Mills Higher Secondary School at Ottarpalayam of Sulur legislative assembly constituency, PSG Arts and Science College at Kavundampalayam legislative assembly constituency in Chitra, Saint Paul Nursery and Primary School, Rathinapuri of Coimbatore North legislative assembly constituency, Nirmala College at Kamarajar Road of Coimbatore South constituency, Government Arts and Science College, Corporation Higher Secondary School Ponne Road, Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Singanallur legislative assembly constituency and Uppilipalayam are the places where model polling booths are to be constituted.
