Coimbatore: Police have arrested 4 persons for their involvement in chain snatching at Sulur area in Coimbatore and have recovered 19 sovereign gold chains.
Following repeated offences in the Sulur area, SP, Sujit Kumar has ordered to tighten the night patrol. A special team under the supervision of Karumathampatti DSP Baskaran headed over by Police Inspector, Thangaraj and Sub-Inspector Pandiyaraj were formed to nab the culprits especially to nab the chain snatchers.
During a vehicle check at Kasikavundanpudur near Sulur, Police interrogated 2 persons who came in a motor cycle. As the Police grew dubious in their reply, they took the duo to the police station for interrogation.
Upon investigation it was found that the duo were involved in chain snatching incidents around Sulur. Based on the information collected from them, Police arrested 2 more of the gang. The arrested are identified as Akash (19), Ganesh Mani (27), Bala Murugan (22) and Kaaleeswaran (24) and police recovered 19 sovereign gold chains from them.
Case has been registered against all the 4 and were lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
