The Nilgiris: Three members of the same family fainted after stung by bees near Coonoor on Friday.
Vijay Kumar of Tirupur who owns a printing press was returning from Kotagiri along with his son Uday and his wife Buvaneswari in their car from Kotagiri, today. On their way, they parked their car near Presidency College in Coonoor and enjoyed the scenic beauty of the area.
The family noticed a broken tree branch in which a large bee hive was attached. Out of curiosity, they attempted to separate the bees from the hive, after which large number of bees began to emerge from the hive and stung them.
All the three are reported to have been gravely attacked by the bees, following which they fainted. The passersby immediately rushed them to Coonoor government hospital where they are treated in the intensive care unit. The Coonoor Police have filed a case and commenced investigation.
