Coimbatore: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 18, the police force, retired police officers and home guards are to be deployed for security. The CRPF will also continue their security duties in all the areas, alongside the police have intensified monitoring in the District.
Briefing on the security measures, SP Sujit Kumar said, "About 2000 personnel from the District Police Department and Central Reserve Police Force are to be deployed for security in the district. Likewise, about 3000 ex-service men, home guards and volunteers are to be deployed for election work".
"Additional force will be deployed at all sensitive polling booths. Extra security will also be deployed in these polling booths which are close to the TN-Kerala border. Anti-naxal forces will be working round-the-clock at Maoist corridors", the SP noted.
"The District Police department will carry out all safety measures to ensure fair and safe elections. Hence, people should come forward to cast their votes and make Coimbatore a 100 percent voting constituency", said the SP.
