With elections nearing, the flying squad have tightened their vigil across the district to ensure free and fair elections. As speculations are rife that political parties could inject heaps of cash into the constituencies for distributing cash for votes, the flying squad are intercepting all vehicles at all entry and exit points.
According to a statement, so far, the election flying squad have seized Rs 9,10,53,952/- from March 11 to April 9. Also, 2073 liquor bottles, Rs 37,000 worth of 15 kgs of banned pan masala products, 2 kg ganja, 3 air pistols, 2 double barrel guns were seized and handed over to the treasury department.
And, 100 kgs sugar, 3500 kgs rice, 2500 kgs wheat, 784 kgs dhal were handed over to Food safety department authorities.
Around 151.5 kgs of gold have been handed over to the South treasury department.
After the submission of proper documents, the amounts are being handed over to the concerned persons. However, a major part of the confiscated amount remains unclaimed.
