Coimbatore: The CPI (M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury is of the opinion that the upcoming election is between Prime Minister Modi and the public and the ‘people’s tsunami’ can be witnessed in these elections.

Addressing the media at Gandhipuram here, Sitaram Yechury said, "A big scam has taken place in the Rafale deal. The verdict of the Supreme Court for the petition that claimed that a scam took place in the procurement of Rafale fighter jets is very important. It was confirmed that the Central Government had hid the issue in the Supreme Court. The Prime Minister also has some connection in the Rafale deal issue. Investigation should take place swiftly to bring the truth."
"We have filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Prime Minister Modi for speaking on the army since it violates the model code of conduct. But, the EC remains silent on this issue. The BJP’s EC is like a toy in the hands of a child. BJP is using CPI for its political benefit," he added.
Sitaram Yechury welcomed the ban on PM Modi's biopic. "But why such a large duration of time for this ban?" he questioned. "Modi is cheating the public without fulfilling the promises. He has indulged in big corruption in the name of eradicating corruption. The EC remains silent even if their officers violate the law. If the EC itself is being accused, it is a threat to democracy. Thus, the parliamentary election is between Prime Minister Modi and the public," he noted.
