Coimbatore: Buildings which have been turned into polling booths for the Lok Sabha elections are being checked to ensure basic facilities such as drinking water, power supply and lights are in place.
Coimbatore: Buildings which have been turned into polling booths for the Lok Sabha elections are being checked to ensure basic facilities such as drinking water, power supply and lights are in place.
For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 3070 polling booths have been set up in 975 centres of 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district. These polling booths are mostly in government office buildings and government schools.
"Since the date for the Lok Sabha elections had been announced, basic facilities are being installed in the polling booths of the district which have been carried out by the Rural Development Department. With 98 percent of the work over, officers can now carry out their duties without any inconvenience," said a district official.
