Amrita ranks eighth among best Universities in India

Coimbatore: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham emerged as the eighth best university in the country for the second consecutive year in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2019.


Coimbatore: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham emerged as the eighth best university in the country for the second consecutive year in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2019. The University was also ranked fifth among medical colleges in India. The list was released by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on April 4. 

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham ranks eights among well-established and prestigious public institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad Calcutta University, Kolkata Jadavpur University, Kolkata and Anna University, Chennai and ahead of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, and Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. In 2017, Amrita was ranked the ninth best University.

Amrita School of Medicine was ranked the fifth best medical college in the country after All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh; Christian Medical College, Vellore; Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow and ahead of prestigious institutions like the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and JIPMER, Puducherry among others.

I am happy with the consistency in the recognition of academic excellence, outstanding faculty and world-class infrastructure that the University is known for,” said Dr. P Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research institution that has been ranked among the best Universities in India by Times Higher Education, QS, etc. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is spread across six campuses in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka is soon to be launched in Haryana and Telangana, with its headquarters at Coimbatore. It has more than 19,000 students, more than 1,800 faculty, more than 200 academic programmes, over 5200 Scopus-indexed publications, 33,000 citations and Rs.250 crores in research funding, as well as 12,000 peer-reviewed publications, 44,000 citations, over 100 patent filings and Rs. 450 crores in research funding.
