We will put pressure to cancel house tax hike: CPM candidate P R Natarajan

Coimbatore: CPM candidate P R Natarajan said that pressure will be applied to cancel the hike in house tax.

Coimbatore: CPM candidate P R Natarajan said that pressure will be applied to cancel the hike in house tax.

P R Natarajan campaigned at the Coimbatore North legislative assembly today. The campaign trail which began at K K Pudur covered places including Saibaba Colony, Karunanidhi Nagar, Periyar Nagar, Rathinapuri, Sambath Street, Textbook and Roots bridge.

During the campaign, P R Natarajan said, "The Centre is laying its hands on State rights. NEET exam, Hydrocarbon and the Methane issue which we opposed are projected toward us. Though the people of Tamil Nadu and other states have extended support to the areas affected by Ockhi and Gaja cyclone, the Centre continues to have a step-motherly approach to us.

The Edappadi government is unable to protect the rights of the State. They are concerned more about their regime rather than people's welfare. They have to preserve the properties they owned through corruption.

The local body election has not been conducted for the last three years, due to which even basic facilities could not be provided. Likewise, the AIADMK government which is not fit to conduct the local body election has raised the property tax, water tax and other taxes up to 100 percent. They have also handed over the drinking water project to Suez due to which public pumps will be removed," he warned.

"The present political scenario in Tamil Nadu is that drinking water could be gained only if money is given. Being the person who staged a series of protests against this, I ask for the people's vote. Once the new government is formed, action will be taken to cancel property tax, water tax and other hikes in the tax structure," he added.
