Coimbatore : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the city in less than half an hour from now to campaign for the BJP-AIADMK alliance's candidate from Coimbatore, C P Radhakrishnan of the BJP.
Security protocol at the CODISSIA grounds demanded that those wishing to participate in the event need to assemble at the venue a good three hours before the event. What was failed to mention though was that anyone wearing a black attire will be barred from entry.
Even as the crowd was milling, both the common man and even members of the media who unsuspectingly turned up in black t-shirts or any attire that was black in colour, were turned away from the CODISSIA grounds and asked to change their attire to another colour, if they wanted to enter the grounds. The reason given was , "Nobody should wear black at the PM’s events.”
One of SimpliCity's Photojournalist was turned away from the meeting citing his black shirt as a reason. In spite of the journo having the press pass for the PM's event, he was rejected by the event organisers.
The police had stopped his entry into the grounds and informed him that fearing a black flag protest, no one attending the meeting were allowed to wear anything in black. When the 'journo' confronted the PRO of BJP, he was told the same, "No black in PM's function."
