Arappor Iyakkam released today the ‘Arappor’ App available free on Google Play Store which contains details of all candidates competing in the upcoming parliamentary election 2019, in TamilNadu and Puducherry. The App is aimed at creating awareness amongst the people of Tamil Nadu about the candidates contesting in their constituency.

The App is aimed at creating awareness amongst the people of Tamil Nadu about the candidates contesting in their constituency.
Arappor Iyakkam strongly believes that 'Informed Citizenry' is key to functional democracy and hence this is an effort to make citizens aware of the choices that they have before them as they go in to vote on April 18.
The information in the App is based on the data declared by the candidates in their affidavits. Arappor Iyakkam encourages all voters to use this App to know details of candidates in their constituency such as their educational background, profession, income of each year in the last five years, asset and liabilities declared and details of criminal cases pending against them.
The App can be downloaded on any android mobile from the link http://bit.ly/KnowYourCandidates-Arappor . The App is available in both English and Tamil. This App is said to be the outcome of the effort of close to 100 volunteers working overtime in the last two weeks to collect data from Candidates’ Affidavit and present in a simple App form. The App will soon be updated with information on the 18 by-election constituencies as well.
Apart from the App, Arappor Iyakkam will also be releasing videos of profiles of candidates for each constituency in the coming days. "Huge growth in assets without income, wide variation in income within a short period, pending serious criminal charges and so on, should be issues of serious concerns to citizens. We request all citizens and media to share this App widely, encourage citizens to carry out proper research and apply their minds before casting their most important responsibility of votes on April 18," opined the members who made the App available as a social responsibility.
