Couple attacked during burglary at Kovilpalayam, one dead

Tirupur: An old man died at the spot and his wife admitted to the hospital after being attacked and burgled by a mob at Kovilpalayam.

Tirupur: An old man died at the spot and his wife admitted to the hospital after being attacked and burgled by a mob at Kovilpalayam. 

According to reports, Karuppatti Palanisamy of Avinashipalayam Kovilpalayam near Palladam here, was residing with his wife Maraththal at Kovilpalayam. After the usual daily labour at their coconut field, they retired for the night. Next morning, when the milkman arrived, he found the house open and became suspicious of foul play. 

On entering the house, he was shocked to find Karuppatti Palanisamy dead and Maraththal fighting for her life. She was quickly admitted to a private hospital. It has been reported that gold and cash were burgled from the house. Following this, the police have launched a search to nab the burglars, at the earliest.
