Thiruvanathapuram: Welcoming the decision by the Union Government to bring 10% reservation for economically weaker sections in the general category, Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said "LDF has always maintained that economic reservation should be given".
"However, the Centre should not do away with the existing reservation", he added.
"CPM has always maintained that economic reservation should be given. Keeping in line with this, the Left Government introduced 10% reservation in the Devaswom Board for economically weaker sections in forward communities,” Pinarayi said.
The Chief Minister opined that he is unsure, if the BJP Government took the decision in view of the forthcoming elections.
