Farmers protesting in Tirupur taken ill

Tirupur : Three farmers who are part of the group protesting at Tirupur, Kallipalayam for the past 10 days demanding the government to revoke the decision of erecting high-voltage transmission lines on agricultural lands were taken I'll, today.

Among the 18 farmers, who are on a hunger strike for the past four days farmers - Sivakumar, Palanisamy and Pushphanadhan were rushed to Tirupur Government hospital after they fell sick, probably dehydrated. 



Thousands of Farmers from 14 districts including Tirupur, Coimbatore, Karur and Erode have been demonstrating a ‘waiting protest’ for the past ten days, against the setting up of high voltage transmission lines on agricultural lands. 

For the past four days, around 18 farmers went on an indefinite hunger strike at Kallipalayam, Tirupur. 

Inspite of this setback, the aggrieved farmers continued to be firm to fight against the Centre's decision and urged to take HT lines through highways instead of agricultural lands.
