Burglar Finds No Gold or Cash, Ransacks House and Leaves a ‘Sorry’ Behind

A burglar who broke into a locked house in Coimbatore’s Ramanathapuram area expecting to find cash and jewellery reportedly found neither. Frustrated, the intruder allegedly damaged household items before making an unusual exit — leaving the word “Sorry” written on the wall.

A burglar appears to have arrived at a locked house in Coimbatore expecting a payday, only to leave empty-handed — and, rather unusually, with an apology.

The incident was reported from Ramanathapuram, where Krishnamoorthy, an employee of an IT company, had locked his house and travelled with his family to Palakkad in Kerala to visit relatives.

When the family returned a few days later, they were in for a shock. The front door was found open and the house was in complete disarray. Several household items had been damaged, while belongings were scattered across the rooms.

Things looked even worse in the bedroom, where the bureau had been opened and its contents were found strewn across the floor. The intruder had also allegedly damaged the mattress, sofa, washing machine and refrigerator.

Police suspect that the unidentified person gained entry by breaking open a side door and searched the house for valuables. However, with no cash or jewellery apparently available, the burglary seems to have ended in frustration rather than profit.

The intruder allegedly damaged several items before making an unusual final gesture — writing “Sorry” in English on the wall before fleeing the house.

The incident was reported to the Ramanathapuram police, who visited the house, collected forensic clues and have launched an investigation.
