Coimbatore: Gudalur Municipality has intensified mosquito and larvae eradication operations across all 27 wards under its jurisdiction as part of efforts to prevent dengue fever.

The drive is being carried out on the advice of Municipal Chairman Arivarasu and under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Gopinath. Health inspectors, larvae eradication workers and sanitation staff from the municipality's health wing are working together, conducting intensive inspections of houses, vacant plots, construction sites, public places and areas prone to water stagnation.

During the inspections, locations where mosquito larvae are breeding are being identified, and measures such as removing stagnant water, clearing away unwanted materials, carrying out larvae eradication activities, and spraying mosquito repellent in required areas are being undertaken.

In addition, awareness is being created among the public about preventing dengue fever. Residents have been advised to ensure that water does not stagnate in and around their homes, and to avoid allowing rainwater to collect in unused tyres, coconut shells, plastic items and similar objects.

The municipal administration has requested that the public thoroughly inspect their homes and surroundings once a week and immediately remove any locations that could serve as potential breeding grounds for mosquito larvae.

Municipal Chairman Arivarasu and Municipal Commissioner Gopinath have appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the municipal administration in order to build a dengue-free Gudalur Municipality.
