"As plastic ban is due to come into effect from January 1 in Tamil Nadu, policemen in all the 8 districts in the West Zone and their family members should abide by the rule and get rid of plastics. A circular on this has been sent to all stations including Office of the District Superintendent and Police commissioner of all districts in the West Zone", the IG said.
He also added that public should co-operate to implement 100% plastic ban by intimating to the police, if they note sale of banned plastics.
"In a bid to safeguard elderly people who often fall prey to chain snatching, the police stations have been ordered to collect and create a list of the senior citizens residing in rural areas and outskirts", he further added.
"We have commenced collecting the birth and wedding anniversary of policemen to grant them leave", IG, Periaiah noted.
