Coimbatore: People who have lost their money to fraudsters on the pretext of allotting homes for them in the Housing Board unit have petitioned the District Collectorate, seeking action to get back their money.
A petition filed at the District Collectorate by Selvaraj of Selvapuram Sowdeswari Colony Housing Unit states, "Kunjumon, Gayathri and Shanthi took a sum of Rs.86,000 from me on the pretext of allotting houses at the housing unit of the Slum Clearance Board. The houses have not been allotted till now. So, necessary action should be taken to get our money back."
Speaking on this, Selvaraj said that Kunjumon had approached him in 2011, assuring houses at the housing unit. "I provided him an advance amount and then Rs.76,000 in installments. Subsequently, when I asked him about the house allotment, he threatened me saying that he was a member of the ruling party. Following this, I have petitioned the Collector seeking necessary action to get my money back," lamented Selvaraj. Until now, five persons have petitioned at the Collectorate seeking their lost money from Kunjumon.
All three accused in this case were arrested last week.
