Coimbatore: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi Thirumavalavan brushed away allegations by BJP leader H Raja and said that there are no differences within the Secular Congress Front.
Addressing reporters at the Coimbatore Airport, Thirumavalavan said, “I back DMK Chief M.K Stalin’s proposal to make Rahul Gandhi as Opposition’s Prime Ministerial candidate. Under his leadership, the Congress party won three state elections.” Thirumavalavan said that BJP leader H Raja is making baseless allegations unable to digest Rahul Gandhi’s success.
Brushing away H Raja’s allegations, Thirumavalavan said that only a few leaders were allowed to sit on K Karunanidhi’s statue unveiling function due to security reasons. “H Raja is attempting to create differences within the DMK front. No matter what, H Raja cannot create any differences within the secular front led by Congress”, he said.
Regarding the release of seven Rajiv Gandhi assassination convicts he said, “Despite the Supreme Court allowing their release, the BJP should explain why the Governor isn’t ready to release them.” He also asked why hasn’t the Centre released Rs.15,000 Crores demanded by the State government for Gaja relief works.
Thirumavalavan also backed Stalin’s ‘Sadist’ comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Stalin referred to the indifference shown by the Prime Minister towards Gaja cyclone victims. Prime Minister has time for celebrities and businessmen but he doesn’t have time to visit Gaja cyclone victims.” Thirumavalavan also demanded that the State government should call All-Party meet regarding Sterlite and Mekedatu issue.
Regarding the current situation in Sri Lanka, Thirumavalavan said, “Maithripala Sirisena is trying to stay in power by compromising with his Front members. Tamil Nationals have ousted Mahindra Rajapakse from the seat and it is an important chapter in history.”
