The Nilgiris : The Nilgiris District administration has announced a local holiday on December 26 in view of the Sri Hethaiyamman temple festival being celebrated by the local Badaga community in Nilgiris. The Badagas throng at the temple in large numbers from the District as well as from outside the district.

In a communique, the District Collector, Innocent Divya said, "While schools, colleges and government offices will be closed on this day, the treasuries would function with a skeletal staff strength. To compensate for this, January 5 would be a working day for all Government offices and educational institutions in the district,”
