Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement Coordinator, Nallusamy, flagged off the Palmyra- Coconut Palm Protection propaganda campaign from the railway junction in the city, today.
The campaign is being organized by the Tamil Nadu Vivsayigal Sangam to propagate the consumption of health-boosting Palmyra products, including the Neera drink.

The propaganda campaign is aimed to create awareness on the need to protect Palmyra farmers and toddy tappers. The campaign will be held across Tirupur, Erode and Salem before culminating in Chennai where a petition would be submitted to the Chief Minister Edapadi Palanisamy, urging him to lift the ban on toddy tapping.

“The demands of the campaign include permission to tap the Neera drink and creating marketing avenues to facilitate domestic and international consumption. Creating awareness on the Aswameda yagam is being organized in Chennai on January 21, in support of lifting the ban on toddy tapping,” said farmers of the Tamil Nadu Vivsayigal Sangam.
