Karpagam Engineering College in Coimbatore conducted the YUVA 2026 Freshmen Induction Programme for first-year B.E/B.Tech students on September 7, 2026. Ramkumar Venkataramani, Head of AI Division at TCS Chennai, attended as chief guest and spoke about artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to guide new students.
Coimbatore: Karpagam Engineering College organized the 27th annual "YUVA 2026 – Freshmen Induction Programme Day - 1" welcoming first-year B.E/B.Tech students for the 2026-2027 academic year on September 7, 2026, at the college campus.
The event was presided over by Dr. R. Vasanthakumar, Chairman of Karpagam Institutions, with Dr. B. Karthikeikumar, Principal of Karpagam Engineering College, presiding over the function.

The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with a prayer song followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. T. Prabhakaran, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Karpagam Engineering College, delivered the welcome address. Dr. S. Ravi, Vice Chancellor of Karpagam Institutions, presented the presidential address.
Dr. B. Karthikeikumar, Principal of Karpagam Engineering College, welcomed the students and elaborated on the college's academic environment, opportunities for student development, and the importance of discipline. Dr. B. Manimaran, Principal of Karpagam Institute of Technology (KIT), delivered the chief guest introduction during the event.
Ramkumar Venkataramani, Head of Strategic Solutions for AI Powered Quality Engineering & AI Evaluation Division at TCS Chennai, attended as the chief guest and delivered the inaugural address. In his speech, he extensively explained to students the significance of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. He also guided students on how to prepare themselves for modern technological advancements.
Dr. S. Sophia, Dean of Karpagam Engineering College, introduced students to the various department operations and operational heads in detail. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. D. Rasi, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, followed by the National Anthem.
