A 22-year-old man was arrested in Coimbatore’s Vadavalli after allegedly assaulting a man following a dispute over rash driving. The accused allegedly punched the victim on the chin, attempted to attack him with an iron rod and issued threats. Vadavalli Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including rash driving, causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
Coimbatore: A 22-year-old man was arrested by Vadavalli Police after allegedly assaulting a man following a dispute over a car accident in the Vadavalli area of Coimbatore.
The incident occurred on Thondamuthur Road in Vadavalli on the night of August 24. According to the complaint, the complainant, Karthik Pandi, 41, a resident of the area, was taking his pet dog for a walk when a car allegedly being driven at high speed by Aravind, 22, approached him.
Police said the car allegedly ran over Karthik Pandi’s foot before the driver stopped a short distance away. Following the incident, Karthik Pandi reportedly confronted Aravind and questioned him about the manner of driving.
According to the complaint, the confrontation escalated, with Aravind allegedly abusing Karthik Pandi and punching him on the chin. He allegedly then took an iron rod from the car and attempted to attack him while also issuing threats.
Karthik Pandi subsequently lodged a complaint with Vadavalli Police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 281, 125(a), 296(b), 115(2) and 351(3) of the BNS and arrested Aravind.
The accused was later released on bail. Further investigation is underway.
