Students of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology in Coimbatore organised a Har Ghar Tiranga awareness programme and Tiranga rally at Theethippalayam village under MY Bharat initiative, educating local residents about Flag Code regulations and fostering patriotic spirit among community members.
Coimbatore: As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the MY Bharat initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology in Coimbatore successfully organised an awareness programme and rally to promote respect for the national flag.
On August 11, 2026, an awareness session on the Flag Code of India, 2002 was conducted at the college campus. The programme was organised to educate students about the significance of the national flag, proper display and handling procedures, and the necessity of preserving its dignity and honour.
Police Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar from Perur Police Station attended as the chief guest and elaborated on the key aspects of the Flag Code of India, 2002. He provided clear guidelines on how to respect the national flag, where, when and how it should be displayed. A total of 160 students enthusiastically participated in this awareness session.
Following the awareness programme, a Tiranga rally was conducted on August 12, 2026 at Theethippalayam village in Coimbatore district. Sixty-five students proudly carried the national flag and participated in the rally. During the procession, students created awareness among local residents about patriotism, national integration and respect for the national flag.
Villagers watched the rally with keen interest. The patriotic slogans raised by the students echoed throughout the village. The younger generation's display of respect for the national flag inspired the local community.
Both these events played a significant role in fostering patriotism, civic responsibility, national integration and respect for national symbols among students and the general public. The college administration has committed to continuing such civic awareness programmes to nurture national pride among students.
