Coimbatore: A comprehensive social data survey for persons with disabilities is being conducted in Coimbatore district until September 2026 under the Tamil Nadu Rights Scheme through the Welfare Department for Differently Abled. Community Rehabilitation Workers (CRW) and Community Facilitators (CF) will conduct this door-to-door survey to collect detailed information about persons with disabilities.

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar, in a statement regarding this initiative, said that families without persons with disabilities need only provide their family card for registration purposes. However, families with persons with disabilities who possess disability identity cards must provide complete details to the survey workers for comprehensive registration.

The Collector emphasized that persons with disabilities who do not have identity cards and all newly identified persons with disabilities should provide their complete information to the field workers without any hesitation. The objective of this survey is to identify all persons with disabilities in the district and create pathways for providing them with required government schemes and welfare programs. Through this initiative, programs for social rehabilitation and welfare of persons with disabilities will be enhanced and improved.
