Cooler Week Ahead as Clouds and Showers Dominate Coimbatore

Coimbatore is expected to witness a cooler-than-usual first week of July with daytime temperatures between 30°C and 32°C, cloudy skies, intermittent rain from Sunday to Tuesday and chances of afternoon thunderstorms towards the end of the week.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore is set to experience a pleasant spell of weather over the next seven days beginning July 4, with the southwest monsoon continuing to influence weather conditions across the district. Forecasts indicate daytime temperatures will remain between 30°C and 32°C, while night temperatures are expected to stay comfortable at around 23°C to 24°C.

Cloudy to mostly cloudy skies are expected to prevail throughout the week, preventing any significant rise in daytime temperatures. Weather experts say the persistent cloud cover associated with the southwest monsoon will keep conditions cooler than those experienced during the peak summer months.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely on several days during the week, particularly from Sunday through Tuesday. Morning and afternoon showers are expected on Sunday, followed by thick cloud cover with light afternoon rain on Monday. Tuesday is also likely to witness isolated afternoon showers in parts of the city.

From Wednesday onwards, rainfall activity is expected to reduce slightly, with predominantly cloudy skies and largely dry conditions. Thursday is forecast to remain mostly cloudy with comfortable temperatures, while Friday could witness partly cloudy skies accompanied by isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

Although temperatures are expected to remain moderate, humidity levels are likely to stay high throughout the week. This may make afternoons feel warmer than the actual air temperature despite the absence of extreme heat.

Meteorologists attribute the prevailing weather pattern to the active southwest monsoon, which continues to transport moisture into western Tamil Nadu. The interaction of monsoon winds with the Western Ghats is expected to maintain cloud cover and support intermittent rainfall across Coimbatore district.

Residents can expect pleasant mornings and evenings during the forecast period, with occasional sunny spells between cloud cover. However, those planning outdoor activities are advised to remain prepared for sudden showers, particularly during afternoon and evening hours early in the week.

Overall, the coming week is expected to bring a welcome respite from intense summer conditions, with cooler daytime temperatures, cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall expected to dominate the weather across Coimbatore.
