Training Session Held for Sector Officers Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026

A training session for Sector Officers was conducted at R.S. Puram Corporation Auditorium for the Tamil Nadu Assembly General Election 2026. District Election Officer and District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar chaired the meeting with Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran in attendance, preparing officials for upcoming electoral duties.


Coimbatore: A comprehensive training session for Sector Officers and Assistant Sector Officers was conducted today (March 25, 2025) at the R.S. Puram Corporation Auditorium in preparation for the Tamil Nadu Assembly General Election 2026. The session was chaired by District Election Officer and District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar, with Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran presiding over the proceedings.



The training focused on the 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district, including Mettupalayam, Sulur, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore North, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore South, Singanallur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, and Valparai. A total of 366 Sector Officers and 366 Assistant Sector Officers have been appointed for these constituencies.



During the session, officials received detailed training on adhering to Election Commission of India guidelines and handling Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at polling stations. The District Election Officer emphasized the importance of strictly following all procedures laid down by the Election Commission of India to ensure free and fair elections.

The training equipped the Sector Officers with comprehensive knowledge about their responsibilities in managing polling booth officers and ensuring smooth conduct of the electoral process. Special attention was given to technical aspects of EVM operation and troubleshooting procedures that may be required during voting.



The meeting saw participation from several key officials including Election Officer and Sub-Collector of Pollachi Ramakrishna Sami IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Dr. P. Murugesan, Project Director (Women's Programme) Madhura, Deputy Collector (Training) Hari Priyanka, and Tahsildar (Elections) Thanikaivel, along with numerous Sector Officers and Assistant Sector Officers.

This training session marks an important preparatory step in ensuring the electoral machinery is well-equipped and properly trained to handle the responsibilities of conducting the 2026 Assembly elections in Coimbatore district.
