These businesses either failed to provide the mandated holiday or did not pay double wages to employees working on Gandhi Jayanti.
According to a release from the Labour Department, the violators will face penalties ranging from ₹500 to ₹10,000. The fine amount will be determined based on the number of employees in each establishment. This action underscores the department's commitment to enforcing labour laws and protecting workers' rights.
In addition to addressing holiday violations, the Labour Department has urged the public to remain vigilant against child labour and bonded labour practices.
