Moderate rainfall in Coimbatore brings relief and traffic woes

Coimbatore experienced moderate rainfall on Tuesday evening, providing relief from the heat but causing traffic congestion in various parts of the city.

Coimbatore: The city of Coimbatore witnessed moderate rainfall on Tuesday evening, bringing a welcome respite from the scorching heat but simultaneously causing traffic congestion in several areas.

The Indian Meteorological Department had earlier forecasted heavy rainfall in various districts of Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and Tiruppur. While some districts received heavy showers, Coimbatore experienced moderate rainfall in multiple locations across the city.

For the past week, Coimbatore had been experiencing intense heat during the day, with occasional light showers in some areas during the night.

On Monday, moderate rain lashed several parts of the city, including Ukkadam, Railway Station, Gandhipuram, and Town Hall areas, for about an hour.

The sudden downpour provided a much-needed cooling effect for the residents who had been enduring the heat since morning.

However, the joy was short-lived for some, as the rain caused waterlogging on roads, particularly in areas like Ukkadam.

This led to difficulties for vehicle drivers and resulted in traffic disruptions.

While the rainfall brought relief from the sweltering heat, it also highlighted the need for better drainage systems in certain parts of the city to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth traffic flow during such weather conditions.
