Stray Cattle on Valparai Roads Pose Accident Risk, Municipality Remains Indifferent

Domesticated buffalo and goats roaming freely on Valparai town roads are causing accident risks. The municipality's inaction despite repeated complaints has raised concerns among social activists.

Coimbatore: The Valparai town area in Coimbatore district is facing a growing safety hazard as domesticated buffalo and goats are frequently found standing on the roads, posing a significant risk of accidents. The situation is particularly alarming on the narrow roads of Valparai, especially the stretch from Kamarajar Nagar to the new bus stand, where vehicles are parked on both sides.

The congested roads make it difficult for buses and heavy vehicles to navigate, often requiring other vehicles to give way. Adding to this challenge, the presence of stray cattle on the roads has become a serious threat to two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.

Social activists report that despite multiple complaints to the municipal administration, no action has been taken to capture these animals and confine them to designated shelters. They warn that if left unchecked, these stray animals could lead to accidents.

Concerned citizens are urging the municipal authorities to prevent cattle from roaming freely on the roads and to impose fines on the owners of these animals. They emphasize the need for immediate action to ensure the safety of road users in Valparai.
