Coimbatore Woman's Organ Donation Gives New Life to 7 People

Shanthi, 49, from Rathinapuri in Coimbatore district, was declared brain dead after an accident. With her family's consent, her organs were donated, giving a new lease of life to 7 individuals.


Coimbatore: The organs of a 49-year-old woman from Rathinapuri, Coimbatore district, have been donated, giving a new lease of life to seven individuals. Shanthi, a culinary expert, met with an accident on September 16 night while traveling on a two-wheeler in the Sembatti area of Dindigul district.

Shanthi suffered severe head injuries after falling from the vehicle due to a speed breaker. She was immediately admitted to Dindigul Government Hospital and later transferred to Madurai Government Hospital for advanced treatment. However, despite medical efforts, she was declared brain dead on the morning of September 19.



With the consent of Shanthi's husband, Baskaran, her organs were donated. The organs were sent to various hospitals including MGM Hospital in Chennai, Government Hospital in Trichy, Government Hospital in Madurai, Velammal Hospital, and Kennedy Hospital in Madurai.

This noble act of organ donation has given a new life to seven people. State honors were accorded during Shanthi's final rites. This organ donation has not only helped several individuals but also serves as an inspiring example to encourage the spirit of helping others.
