Man Arrested for Stealing 6½ Sovereigns of Gold Jewelry in Coimbatore House Break-in

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Coimbatore for breaking into a house and stealing 6½ sovereigns of gold jewelry. The theft occurred on August 1, and the suspect was apprehended on September 1 after police investigation.


Coimbatore: The Rathinapuri police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a house in Gandhi Puram and stealing 6½ sovereigns of gold jewelry. The incident occurred on August 1, and the arrest was made on September 1 following a month-long investigation.

The victims, Arul Vimalan (30) and his wife Pandi Megalva (29), residents of 100 Feet Road in Gandhi Puram, Coimbatore, are both employed in private companies. On August 1, Pandi left for work after locking the house. Upon returning in the evening, she was shocked to find the lock broken. Further inspection revealed that 6½ sovereigns of gold jewelry stored in the cupboard had been stolen.

Pandi immediately filed a complaint at the Rathinapuri police station. The police registered a case and launched an investigation. They collected CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and analyzed it meticulously.

The breakthrough came when the police identified the suspect from the CCTV footage. The thief was identified as Santhosh Kumar (34), a resident of Ganapathy Jayaprakash Nagar in Coimbatore.

Acting on this information, the police arrested Santhosh Kumar on September 1. He is currently in police custody, and interrogations are ongoing to recover the stolen jewelry and uncover any potential involvement in other similar crimes in the area.

The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to prevent such incidents in the future.
