Tamil Nadu Government Invites Tender for International Cricket Stadium in Coimbatore

The Tamil Nadu government has initiated the process to establish an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore by inviting tenders for a detailed project report. Four potential sites are under consideration.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government has taken a significant step towards fulfilling Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's promise of establishing an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore. The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority has invited tenders for the preparation of a detailed project report for the proposed stadium.

The move comes after Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin recently conducted a feasibility study for setting up the stadium in Ondipudur. The government is actively exploring potential locations for the stadium, with four sites currently under consideration.

The four sites being evaluated for the international cricket stadium are:

1. Ondipudur

2. Near L&T Bypass

3. An area close to Bharathiar University

4. The prison grounds

The initiative to build an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore aligns with Chief Minister Stalin's commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in the state. The project is expected to boost the city's sporting profile and provide a world-class facility for cricket enthusiasts.

The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority's call for tenders to prepare a detailed project report marks the beginning of the formal planning process. This report will likely include comprehensive details about the stadium's design, facilities, seating capacity, and other essential features required for an international-standard cricket venue.

As the project progresses, it is anticipated that further studies and assessments will be conducted to determine the most suitable location among the four shortlisted sites. Factors such as accessibility, available land area, and potential for future expansion are likely to be considered in the final decision-making process.

The establishment of an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore is expected to not only serve the sporting community but also contribute to the city's economic growth by attracting major cricket events and tournaments in the future.
