Drunk Man Arrested for Harassing Woman Goatherd Near Udumalaipettai

A 45-year-old man was arrested near Udumalaipettai for harassing a woman goatherd while driving under the influence. The incident occurred in Madathukulam area, leading to his imprisonment.


Tirupur: A 45-year-old man was arrested and imprisoned for harassing a woman goatherd while driving under the influence near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district.



The incident occurred near Madathukulam, where Shanmugasundaram, a resident of Vedapatti area, was driving his car in a heavily intoxicated state. He encountered Saraswati, who was herding goats in the vicinity, and engaged in a heated argument with her. Shanmugasundaram allegedly used abusive language and attempted to physically assault Saraswati.

The situation escalated when Shanmugasundaram also behaved erratically with police officers who were on patrol in the area. Following a complaint filed by Saraswati at the Madathukulam police station, the police registered a case against Shanmugasundaram and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

In addition to the harassment charges, Shanmugasundaram was also booked for driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the importance of responsible behavior on the roads.
