Heavy Rains Submerge Banana Plantations Near Moyar Reservoir

Thousands of banana trees near the Moyar reservoir were submerged due to heavy rains and flooding in the Bhavani River. Farmers risked their safety to harvest the crop on August 1.

Coimbatore: Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the Bhavani River, leading to the submersion of vast banana plantations near the Moyar reservoir in the Sirumugai Bhavanisagar area.

The flood waters have engulfed thousands of banana trees cultivated in the surrounding regions, putting farmers' livelihoods at risk.

The Sirumugai Bhavanisagar reservoir area is home to numerous farmers who have invested in banana cultivation. The recent downpour has resulted in a significant water level rise in the Bhavani River, causing the Moyar reservoir to overflow and flood the adjacent areas.

Despite the dangerous conditions, farmers were seen harvesting banana bunches on August 1, risking their safety to salvage their crops.
