Coimbatore: The Karamadai Ranganathar Temple in Coimbatore celebrated the Ekadasi festival on July 17, marking the Aadi month Sukla Paksha Ekadasi. The temple doors were opened early in the morning, and a special abhishekam was performed for the main deity, Lord Ranganathar.

The festivities began with Kala Sandhi Puja, followed by Vishvaksena Aradhana, Punyavadhanam, and Kalasa Avahanam ceremonies. In honor of Ekadasi, Lord Ranganathar, along with Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, received a Stapana Tirumanjana (holy bath).

The rituals continued with a special Tirumanjana using fragrant substances such as honey, ghee, milk, curd, tender coconut water, turmeric, and sandalwood. Subsequently, Lord Ranganathar was taken on a procession in a silver chariot around the temple premises, accompanied by traditional music, blessing the devotees.

After the procession, Lord Ranganathar, along with Sri Devi and Bhu Devi, was seated in the Asthanam (court) for the Uchikala Puja (midday worship). This was followed by Veda Parayanam, Saatru Murai (recitation of sacred texts), and the distribution of Theertha Prasadam (holy water and offerings).

The event saw participation from various groups, including temple trustees, priests, Mirasdars (hereditary temple officials), the temple's executive officer, members of the board of trustees, staff, and a large number of devotees. The Ekadasi celebration at Karamadai Ranganathar Temple showcased the rich cultural and religious traditions of the region, bringing together the community in devotion and celebration.
