Coimbatore District Collector Invites Applications for Tamil Chemmal Award

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has invited applications for the Tamil Chemmal Award 2024. The award, given by the Tamil Development Department, recognizes individuals contributing to Tamil language development with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000.



Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has issued a call for applications for the prestigious Tamil Chemmal Award 2024. This annual award, instituted by the Tamil Development Department of the Tamil Nadu government, aims to recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and promotion of the Tamil language.

The Tamil Chemmal Award is presented to one deserving individual from each district every year. The recipient will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with a certificate of merit. This recognition serves to acknowledge and encourage the efforts of Tamil language enthusiasts and scholars in preserving and promoting the rich linguistic heritage of Tamil Nadu.

Interested candidates can download the application form from the official website of the Tamil Development Department at https://tamilvalarchithurai.tn.gov.in. Applicants are required to submit the completed form along with the following documents:

1. Proof of residence (either a certificate from the Tahsildar or a copy of Aadhaar card)

2. Details of published books and articles (if any), with one copy of each

3. Information about membership or positions held in Tamil associations or organizations

4. Description of notable works qualifying for the award

5. Recommendation letters from two Tamil scholars

6. Recommendation letter from Tamil organizations operating in the district

7. Two passport-size photographs

8. Supporting documents for Tamil-related activities

The completed applications, along with all necessary documents, should be submitted either in person or by post to the Office of the Deputy Director of Tamil Development, Coimbatore District, by August 10, 2024.
