Domestic Cargo Services to Resume at Coimbatore Airport from July 16

Coimbatore Airport officials announce the resumption of domestic cargo flight services from July 16, following a year-long suspension due to security concerns and lack of necessary inspection equipment.

Coimbatore: Domestic cargo flight services at Coimbatore International Airport, which were suspended last year due to security reasons, will resume operations from July 16, according to airport officials.

The domestic cargo transport services from Coimbatore Airport to other states were halted on July 1 last year. The primary reason for the suspension was the lack of necessary inspection equipment required to comply with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) regulations.

The absence of these inspection devices led to the suspension of domestic cargo flights not only in Coimbatore but also in several other airports across the country. This suspension caused significant inconvenience to businesses, preventing them from sending their goods promptly and resulting in financial losses.

In response to continuous appeals from various trade associations and airline companies to the Airport Authority, the necessary inspection equipment and basic infrastructure facilities have now been installed at Coimbatore Airport. As a result, cargo can now be sent to other cities from Coimbatore Airport with 100% certification after obtaining proper clearance.

Airport officials have confirmed that this service will come into effect from July 16, providing relief to local businesses and enhancing the airport's operational capabilities.
