Delhi's Patiala House Court grants conditional bail to ex-DMK Functionary Jaffer Sadiq in a drug case. Judge's verdict highlights lack of direct evidence linking Sadiq to drug trafficking, raising questions about NCB's investigation and intention.
Coimbatore: In a surprising turn of events, Jaffer Sadiq, arrested in connection with a drug case, has been granted conditional bail by Judge Sudhir Kumar Sirohi of Delhi's Patiala House Court. The verdict has brought to light several shocking details about the case and the investigation conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The court ruled that the NCB's use of a non-bailable section against Jaffer Sadiq was invalid. It was revealed that on February 15, 2024, drugs were seized from Mujibur Rahman, Ashok Kumar, and Mukesh, but no narcotics were found in Jaffer Sadiq's possession.
The judge's order highlighted several discrepancies in the NCB's investigation. Murali Krishnan, Sadiq's car driver, has not been arrested yet. While the NCB presented CCTV footage showing Murali Krishnan making a payment to a company called Aventa on March 15, 2024, the court noted that this evidence was irrelevant as the drug seizure occurred on February 15, 2024.
Furthermore, the NCB has failed to provide technical proof linking two email IDs, three mobile numbers, and one broadband number to Jaffer Sadiq. One of the mobile numbers claimed to belong to Sadiq's brother Maitheenjani was found to be registered under the name of Jalal Badshah. Surprisingly, neither Sadiq's brother nor Jalal Badshah has been questioned by the NCB.
The voice notes submitted by the NCB as evidence only contained recordings of Mujibur Rahman and Mukesh, individuals connected to Sadiq, but not Sadiq's voice itself. The mobile number allegedly used by Sadiq to send voice notes to Rahman and Mukesh was registered under the name of Akhilesh Kumar, who has not been investigated by the NCB.
Importantly, the voice notes presented by the NCB did not contain any mention of drug names. The court also noted that the NCB has been unable to present any direct evidence linking Jaffer Sadiq to drug trafficking. Additionally, no calls, messages, or emails related to this case were sent from the mobile number that the NCB claimed belonged to Sadiq.
Given these circumstances, Judge Sudhir Kumar Sirohi of the Delhi Patiala House Court granted conditional bail to Jaffer Sadiq, raising serious questions about the NCB's investigation and the strength of the case against him.
