Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS inspected various ongoing development projects in the North Zone on July 9, 2024. The visit covered infrastructure improvements, educational facilities, and healthcare centers.
Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS conducted an extensive inspection of various development projects underway in the North Zone of Coimbatore Corporation on July 9, 2024. The visit aimed to assess the progress and quality of ongoing works benefiting the public.

The Commissioner's tour began in Ward 15 of Subramaniyampalayam, where he inspected the renovation of a 20-million-liter capacity overhead water tank and a ground-level water tank.

He also visited an Integrated Child Development Scheme center in the area.

At the Corporation Middle School in Subramaniyampalayam, Prabakaran interacted with students and instructed teachers to enhance students' reading skills. He also inquired about improving the school's infrastructure.

In Ward 2, the Commissioner examined the construction of an Urban Sub-Health Center in Thudiyalur Cheran Colony, being built at a cost of Rs. 30 lakhs under the 15th Central Finance Commission grant.

He also inspected the ongoing work on a walkway and bicycle path in Ward 12's Chinnavedampatti Kulakkarai area, funded by AMRUT-20 scheme at Rs. 1.15 crore.

The inspection continued at Udayampalayam Corporation Middle School in Ward 12, where eight new classrooms are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 99.50 lakhs under the State Finance Commission grant.

In Ward 19's Maniyakaranpalayam, Prabhakaran reviewed the progress of an Urban Primary Health Center being built at Rs. 1.57 crore under the National Urban Health Mission.


The Commissioner also visited two fair price shops: one under construction in Avarampalayam (Ward 28) at a cost of Rs. 22 lakhs from the Coimbatore MP Local Area Development Fund, and another completed shop in Ward 27 funded by the Singanallur MLA Constituency Development Fund. An Anganwadi center in the area was also part of the inspection.

In Ward 26's Mullai Nagar, Prabhakaran examined the construction of a night shelter for the homeless, a Rs. 1.60 crore project under the National Urban Livelihood Mission.
Throughout the inspection, the Commissioner urged officials to complete the construction works swiftly and maintain high quality standards. He was accompanied by Corporation Chief Engineer Anbazhagan, Assistant Commissioner Sridevi, Ward Councilors, Assistant Engineers, the Zonal Health Officer, school teachers, and other corporation officials.
