Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Stabbing Friend in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, a dispute between two friends led to one stabbing the other. The accused, Prasanth, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.


Coimbatore: A heated argument between two friends in Neelikonampalayam, Coimbatore, escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in one of the friends being stabbed. The incident, which took place in 2018, involved Tamilarsan, 30, and his acquaintance Prasanth, 25, from Varatharajapuram. The altercation reportedly began after Prasanth spoke disparagingly about Tamilarsan's relative, which angered Tamilarsan. In a fit of rage, Prasanth attacked Tamilarsan with a knife.

Tamilarsan sustained injuries and was hospitalized but later recovered. Based on his complaint, Singanallur police arrested Prasanth, who was subsequently remanded to custody. After a prolonged trial, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajalingam concluded the case on June 28, sentencing Prasanth to five years of imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000.
