Residents of Alandurai demand waterlogging solution following heavy rains

Alandurai in Coimbatore has been affected by waterlogging due to recent heavy rains. Residents struggle to maneuver outdoors, calling for immediate action from local authorities.


Coimbatore: Alandurai's Thiruvika Nagar residential area is grappling with severe waterlogging after heavy rains battered the Thondamuthur area and its surroundings on June 26. The accumulation of stagnant rainwater mixed with sewage has severely restricted the Movement of residents, from children to the elderly.

As the rainwater has permeated homes and streets, daily routines are disrupted, creating a standstill situation. Residents have reported the issue to the local council, but as of now, no significant measures have been taken to address this persistent problem. Typically, during the rainy season, it is standard practice for the local administration to promptly deploy motor pumps to clear the waterlogged areas. However, residents lament that such actions are yet to be commenced this time, raising concerns about potential health risks due to the stagnant water.

Today, on June 27, the community has raised an urgent request for the local council to enact immediate solutions to alleviate the waterlogging, emphasizing the gravity of the issue and the community's plight.
