Collector Pati stressed on the critical need to repair and enhance rainwater harvesting systems across residential, commercial, and industrial properties in Coimbatore. He mentioned that while Coimbatore is blessed with natural water bodies like Noyyal and Siruvani rivers, rapid urbanization and climate change have posed significant challenges in water management.
Residents are urged to ensure that their rainwater systems are well maintained to prevent overflow on roads during the rainy season, thereby reducing potential water logging and increasing the groundwater levels. The workshop also celebrated recent renovations of seven key tanks – Krishnampathi, Selvampathi, Kumaraswami, Selvasindamani, Periyakulam, Valankulam, and Kurichi Kulam.
