All India Student Federation Demands Justice for Slain Activist Gagandeep Singh in Rajasthan

The All India Student Federation demands action after the murder of its Rajasthan state leader, Gagandeep Singh, by antisocial elements on May 15, 2024. Protests erupt across the state seeking justice.

Coimbatore: A wave of protests has swept across various parts of India, led by the All India Student Federation and All India Youth Federation, demanding justice for Gagandeep Singh, a student activist who was murdered in Rajasthan. Gagandeep, who was actively involved in student rights campaigns and was a former state leader of the federation, was reportedly killed by anti-social elements on May 15, 2024.

The incident, initially declared an accident by local police in their FIR, was later confirmed as a targeted killing according to the post-mortem report, which indicated that Gagandeep was hit on the head. Activists and local community members have long protested, asserting it was a murder, and are now demanding action against the officers who misled the investigation and protected the culprits.

In Coimbatore, a significant protest took place near the South Tahsildar office, led by All India Youth Federation's state deputy secretary V. Vasanthakumar. The protest saw participation from former state leaders of the student federation Gunasekhar and Sneha, along with youth federation administrators N. Jeevanantham and M. Manikandan among others.

The protestors are urging a fair and swift legal process to bring Gagandeep's killers to justice. They also highlighted Gagandeep's contributions, notably his role in the government takeover of Gyan Jyoti College, advocating for student rights in the state of Rajasthan.
