Petition for Ban on Isha Electric Crematorium in Ikkarai Booluvampatti, Coimbatore

Residents and the Periyar Ambedkar Organization have submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector requesting a ban on the establishment of an electric crematorium by Isha Foundation in Ikkarai Booluvampatti, citing existing crematorium and mysterious deaths.

Coimbatore: A petition has been lodged with Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati by residents and the Periyar Ambedkar Organization to prohibit the establishment of an electric crematorium by Isha Foundation in Ikkarai Booluvampatti.

The petitioners argue that the region already has both a burning and burial ground, raising concerns over additional crematorium being unnecessary and potentially harmful. The controversy stems from ongoing mysterious deaths associated with existing Isha facilities, which the protesters allege could worsen if new crematorium are built. The petitioners have threatened to mobilize more protests if their demands are not met, indicating a growing unrest in the community against the project.
