Karpagam College of Engineering Celebrates Annual Sports Day

Karpagam College of Engineering in Coimbatore hosted its Annual Sports Day on April 13, 2024, with Wing Commander R. Sadish as the chief guest. The event featured various sports competitions and a prize distribution ceremony.


Coimbatore: Karpagam College of Engineering celebrated its Annual Sports Day at the cricket ground on April 13, 2024. The event began at 9.30 am, starting with the Tamilthai Valthu, followed by the hoisting of the national and college flags by Wing Commander R. Sadish and Dr. V. Kumar Chinniayn, Principal of the college, respectively.



The ceremony continued with a March Past by the departments, oath-taking, and addresses by the dignitaries. P. Dhibesh Kumar, the Director of Physical Education, welcomed the gathering. During his felicitation address, Dr. V. Kumar Chinniyan emphasized the significance of sports in student life and its numerous benefits.



Wing Commander R. Sadish, the chief guest from 5BRD, Sulur Air Force Station, highlighted the essential qualities of sportsmanship and discussed internship opportunities at the Air Force Station. He also underlined the link between physical health and mental well-being.



The sports events kicked off with the 100 meters finals for girls and boys, followed by the 4x200 meters relay. After the races, a prize distribution ceremony was held, where the chief guest awarded medals and certificates to the victors. The Information Technology department triumphed in the overall boys' championship, while the girls' title went to the Computer Science and Technology department.



The event concluded with the national anthem at 12.15 pm, after the Principal honored the chief guest with a shawl and memento. Assistant Physical Director Mr. P Pratheep delivered the vote of thanks, marking the end of the festive day.
